Description:
This course will teach positioning techniques to identify early motor delays at 2, 4 and 6 months of age. Additionally, this course will provide a deeper understanding of early detection, early intervention, and referral procedures for early motor delays, along with possible outcomes associated with lack of Tummy Time. Learners will view footage of typically developing and atypically developing infants showing how the power of observation can help detect early motor delays. After completing this course, a nurse should be able to talk to parents about atypical movement, what to do if atypical motor movement is suspected and how they can practice Tummy Time with baby.

- Understand the rise and cause of early motor delays in infants
- Gain knowledge about the Kong method of observation to recognize motor irregularities at 2, 4, and 6 months old
- Convey importance of Tummy Time to patients and how to implement into an infant’s daily routine
- Make recommendations for patients on how to get therapy services for their child
