When should Baby start solid foods?
It depends on when Baby is ready, but the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends start solids around 6 months. Here are some signs that Baby is ready for solid foods:
Able to hold their head up when sitting
Shows interest in what others are eating
Opens mouth when food approaches
Able to move food from a spoon or fork into throat
Start with thinly pureed fruits and vegetables. Make sure to wait a few days between trying new foods to check for food allergies. By 9 months, Baby should be able to eat soft finger or table foods such as bananas and ground beef. For more information and tips on starting solids, check out this blog.
