Tummy Time by Age | What to Look for at 3 Months

At 3 months, Tummy Time starts to look more like active play! Baby will find this position to be more comfortable and enjoyable as they gain head control and learn to put weight on their arms. This newfound strength helps Baby explore their surroundings easier!
Use the skills below to check in on Baby’s progress during Tummy Time. Aim to do Tummy Time when Baby is happy and alert, and avoid doing it right after feeding.
Tummy Time Skills at 3 Months:
• Begins to put weight on forearms, with elbows behind shoulders at a 45 degree angle
• Gains head control and is able to lift head between 45 to 90 degrees, without tilting head to either side
• Starts to visually track toys or rattles you move around
Tip for Tummy Time at 3 Months:
If Baby’s arms are too far out on either side of their body, try moving them in toward their chest. This gives Baby the base of support needed to push up more easily!
