Congrats on making it through Baby’s first month!

By this time, Baby is getting more used to being on their tummy for a few minutes. While their head might still bob and drop, even small attempts to lift their head are a great sign of progress. Placing a hand on their bottom is a little trick that can help make it easier!

Use the skills below to check in on Baby’s progress during Tummy Time. Aim to do Tummy Time when Baby is happy and alert, and avoid doing it right after feeding.

Tummy Time Skills at 1 Month:

• Attempts to lift head up - even if only for a second
• Turns head to both sides equally

Tip for Tummy Time at 1 Month:
Make sure Baby turns their head to both sides so they can clear their airway while on their tummy. You can help by slowly tilting Baby’s body from one side to the other.
