Parents’ Guide to Infant Carriers

Every parent uses containers, such as carriers, car seats, bouncer seats, and strollers, on a daily basis, but did you know you can overuse them?

These containers are used to keep baby safe and secure throughout the day; however, they actually limit a majority of baby’s movement and keep baby in the same position, lying on the back. Overuse of this position can restrict baby and place pressure on their head. It can even cause flat head and torticollis.

Overuse of containers can also increase the risk of delays in:

  • Sitting
  • Walking
  • Crawling
  • Talking

Tips to reduce time in containers:

  • Daily Tummy Time
  • Carry baby often and in different positions
  • Limit baby’s time in containers to only when necessary
