The Baby 180°: Switch Positions Daily

Besides daily Tummy Time, one of the best ways to support healthy head and neck development is changing Baby’s position often. We call this simple habit the Baby 180°!

180 degrees means a half turn, or turning around so you’re facing the opposite direction. This could look like:

  • Switching Baby from your left arm to your right arm during bottle-feeding

  • Alternating which end of the crib Baby’s head rests on each night

  • Changing the shoulder you normally carry Baby over

Doing the Baby 180° ensures your baby doesn’t always rest their head on the same side or turn it the same way, which is important for helping prevent positional plagiocephaly (flat spots) and positional torticollis (tight neck muscles).
