Why are executive function skills (EF) important? Because even as an adult, you use them every day!
EF skills help manage yourself and your activities. These skills help with:
Accomplishing goals
Prioritizing tasks
Organization
Planning
Attention
Problem solving
Time management
Emotion regulation
EF skills develop the most around 4-5 years old. They’re developed through social interactions, play, and everyday activities.
Tips to build EF skills:
Increase social interactions
Have predictable routines
Bring kids along on errands
Talk through steps of an activity
Allow time for free and creative play
Help your child now to develop the skills they need later!
